Craig F. Walker of The Denver Post was awarded his second Pulitzer Prize on Monday afternoon for “Welcome Home: The Story of Scott Ostrom,” which won in the feature category. And Massoud Hossaini of Agence France-Presse won the 2012 prize for breaking news photography for his coverage of a bloody attack in Afghanistan — his third major award for the image.

Mr. Walker, who won his first Pulitzer in 2010, also received the Newspaper Photographer of the Year award this year in the Pictures of the Year International contest. On Monday, as he did when he spoke to Lens about POYi, Mr. Walker held his infant son in his arms as he talked over the phone about the announcement, which was made Monday afternoon by Columbia University.
This time, he stood in the newsroom of The Denver Post alongside Mr. Ostrom, the subject of the work.
“Scott’s story is really important to our country,” Mr. Walker said. “We will be hearing a lot of stories like Scott’s for a long time, I think. It’s important to know what our veterans were going through. Hopefully the story will get to more people now.”
Mr. Hossaini — who spoke to Lens the day after he photographed a young Shiite woman screaming in the midst of a bloody scene in Kabul — has also been awarded first prize in spot news in the Pictures of the Year International contest and second prize for spot news from World Press Photo, both for the same photograph. The image, and a variation, made the front pages of The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post on Dec. 7.

美國哥倫比亞大學16日（當地時間）宣布2012普立茲獎（Pulitzer Prize）得獎名單，其中，法新社的戰地記者何賽尼（Massoud Hossaini），因為阿富汗首都喀布爾1名女童在擁擠的聖地發生自殺爆炸事件後，該女童一臉驚恐尖叫的照片獲得突發新聞攝影獎（Breaking News Photography）。
照片中的女孩塔拉娜（Tarana）說：「我真的、真的很害怕」，當下她起身時，發現周圍的人都倒在血泊中，連她7歲的弟弟也犧牲了。拍下照片的攝影記者霍森尼，大半輩子都在戰火中度過，這是他為法新社拿下的首座普立茲獎。
