原本應該是小賈斯汀與魔力紅相互廝殺，爭奪冠軍的告示牌單曲榜，卻由來自澳洲的「音樂魔術師」Gotye / 高堤耶以新失戀國歌 ”Somebody That I Used To Know / 最熟悉的陌生人” 蟬聯 3 週冠軍，創下自 2000 年以來唯一澳洲歌手奪冠紀錄。朗朗上口的旋律、歌詞中每個人有過的分手情節、吸睛的人體彩繪創意 MV，再加上高堤耶酷似史汀的嗓音，讓這首歌在全球爆紅，除了登上 31 國 iTunes 冠軍，YouTube 點閱率超過 1 億 9 千萬次。

Gotye 透過繁複的取樣方式模擬出傳統樂器的音色，藉以豐富電子樂的聽覺色彩，然後調合出電子搖滾、靈魂樂、民謠、世界音樂等各樣風格，他同時也透過心愛的老唱片進行歌曲取樣，或是將日常生活的環境音融入創作來激盪創意。
